The Link and The Destination
Welcome to the Northeast Neighborhood, a dynamic community between Downtown South Bend and the University of Notre Dame. An urban trail, called The Link, can get you from point A to point B, but this neighborhood is a destination itself—rich in character, people, and activities.
Live Here
This is “home sweet home” to families who’ve lived here for generations and newcomers who moved in to be close to work, schools, and the University. It’s also “home away from home” for people here for the academic year or the Notre Dame football season. City blocks feature heritage and new homes—standing side by side—as well as townhomes, condominiums, and apartments.
Explore
Wander the neighborhood you’ll find evidence of a storied past and a prosperous future. The Historic Firehouse No. 7 and the legendary Rocco’s Original Pizza sit along a fresh urban trail. Four parks offer space to play, imagine, and relax. Eddy Street Commons features restaurants, hotels, a Trader Joe’s, and the Robinson Community Learning Center has programs for all ages and budgets.
Be Well
The neighborhood has resources for the mind, body, and spirit. Oaklawn and Notre Dame’s Veldman Family Psychology Clinic offer mental health services, while South Bend Clinic tends to medical and urgent care needs. A food pantry operates out of the historic firehouse and several places of worship feed the soul.
