Northeast Neighborhood Council (NENC)

Established in 1968, the NENC is the oldest continually operating neighborhood association in the City of South Bend.

Our Mission

The NENC promotes, without profit, needed community services (like the Food Pantry) to the residents of the Northeast Neighborhood and develops partnerships between the residents  and inter-community relations with neighboring communities, including universities, colleges, businesses, religious institutions, government agencies, and any other interested parties.

Historic Firehouse No. 7

The Historic Firehouse No. 7 sits at the intersection of Notre Dame and South Bend Avenues and serves as the home of the Northeast Neighborhood Council, supporting many of the organization's programs, volunteer efforts, and community initiatives.

The NENC operates the neighborhood Food Pantry from the firehouse, providing an important resource for residents all year.

The NENC is guided by a Board of Directors made up of no more than thirty (30) neighborhood residents of the Northeast Neighborhood.

Monthly Board Meetings

Every second Monday of the month at 5:30 P.M., meeting at the firehouse or via Zoom

Annual Board Meeting

Open to all community members. Neighborhood residents may join for $5 annual dues.
